Cage Match: Corks Vs Screwcaps

Cork oaks grow mainly in Portugal and Spain and take up to 40 years to yield their first harvest of cork for wine closures! Harvest does not hurt the tree but it does take 10 years before you can harvest it again.

It’s April and that means Earth Month and April 22 is Earth DAY! I’ve been thinking about corks and screw caps and I even wrote an article about which is the winner, from an environmental standpoint. You can see it HERE on the Beverage Testing Institute’s website.

Have a read and maybe pop a cork while you do. Cheers.

  1. Good article, Liz! Very interesting and I had no idea as to what your preference was going to be!
